friday afternoon

gen got her two brand-new wheelchairs earlier this week. the powerchair is taking some getting used to, but with a few more days, i think we'll be allright. we haven't had a chance to try out the manual chair. they are both perfectly fitted to gen. gen did an extra-good job in the pool again on thursday, walking and rolling. we went on an outing to target today. gen drove herself with her hand (the new chair has a head-driving system, too, but we didn't need it today), and did a wonderful job. gen's day-rehab therapists gave us gift cards for target and valentino's (our favorite lincoln-pizza-place). i got my present yesterday, finally. gen had me convinced it had something to do with paint, which i found weird because i've never known her to be a painter. sure enough, no paint. it is a glass/candleholder/prettything. it almost looks like a stained-glass glass. this is how she made it: she tore tissue paper into square-ish pieces, she glued those multi-colored pieces all over a clear glass, she put a clear coat of glue on top of the multi-colored tissue paper pieces, she handed me the glass. she did all the work herself, and i am very proud of her. gen and i are looking forward to having a few days off from rehab.

merry christmas to all! thanks to everyone who sent gifts and cards.
