this is susan...i've been gone since thursday evening and just got back this afternoon. i worked at for-all on friday and saturday, saw my church family on sunday, visited with family and took care of some bills and business while i was in carthage. gen looks so good, better and better all the time. she told me about what she did over the weekend: took a step on her own (one step backward) which was a big step forward figuratively. i think we kidded her that she would be moonwalking before she was really walking. she has been standing more solidly and without assistance after she gets up and balanced. saturday josh and david (therapist) got her up to a standing position 4 times for about 5 minutes each time, and let her stand alone without holding her for about half of that time. that is terrific!! she had me bring her a book of mazes and a book of word searches. she is continuing her arm work in the evenings in her room. she did very well on both of those activities this evening. she found most of the words before i spotted them. i just supported her arm (held it up off the table) and she moved it to complete the maze or to circle the words or scratch off the words in the list that she had found. i am so impressed at the arm movement i could feel while i held her wrist off the table. she is really improving. please keep praying for her to have the strength and courage to keep trying to do all the things she needs to do while she is still here. please keep praying that God will not let her be discouraged, but will let her feel His grace, His peace, His arms holding her up like no one else can hold her. thank you for your care and concern.

Dear Susan, Josh, and Gen,
I haven't been online for several days to know that there hadn't been any new updates. I checked in Tuesday evening, in perfect time to read Monday's update. As always, my response is, "Praise God for all He is doing through your hard work!" I was in Colorado with grandsons from Oct 30 through Nov 4, when we drove back to Missouri - Me, Amy, 4 boys, and a dog. There should be a country western song in there.
Gen, I am so excited that you are being able to stand on your own, and impressed that you are doing word searches. I do alright on them when the word is left-to-right or top-to-bottom. However, I have trouble with the other orientations.
My husband pointed out to me that the My, Oh My, What a Wonderful Day song is not from Oklahoma. As you can see, I am not so good with musical memory. May you keep on having wonderful days, lifted and held in God's strong arms.
Love,
Melfin
