monday evening

susan here. i went back home on friday after moving stuff out of the house. i went to work on saturday, got to visit my family and my cats, saw my church family and enjoyed some wonderful weather. i came back to lincoln today, and was amazed at how much colder it is here than back home. i was also amazed to see how much gen has done over the weekend. she is talking clearer than ever, even without the noseplugs. she is moving her right arm up slightly, working on getting it up to the control for her chair without having someone set it in place. she is helping so much with all the moving we have to do with her. at 4:00 this afternoon gen got four injections in her left leg to help reduce the tone. the doctor used a thin needle like a probe, hooked up electrodes to her leg, used a machine to find where the muscle activity was on overload, and injected the medication into each of four places. the medication is intended to deaden the nerve in that area so it won't be stimulated to make the muscles contract. this will let the other muscles work like they should without having to counteract the overloaded ones. this is hard to explain, but this should start to help in 2-3 days and should last 4-6 months. it should make her left leg less stiff and unmanageable. (the medication is similar in effect to botox, which deadens the nerves and smooths out the area where the nerves are.) tomorrow should be a big day, and we pray for strength and courage to meet each challenge. God has been good to us.

Gen,
"... Jesus, portrayed by the talented Landon Rose, makes his entrance during this scene. From that point on, the story unfolds as Jesus calls his disciples, performs miracles and teaches that God is a God of love, grace and forgiveness."

If you feel so inclined, go to www.mansionamerica.com, click on "The Promise" and you can watch a trailer. It's totally intense.
I felt it would be unfair to overlook this, as I was so quick to provide the link about Jim Jordan.
Peace out,
