we had quite the big day today. gen had her trach tube removed. the rt put a bandaid over the hole in her neck and told us that it would heal over in a day or two. she told us that it is easier to swallow and breathe. it has also been decided that gen can eat three pureed meals a day, starting tomorrow. gen now has a power wheelchair. it is controlled by her head. we started e-stim on gen's left arm today. she'll now be getting an extra half hour of occupational therapy each day. thank you for all the cards and letters.

Hi, this is your grandmother's friend Susan again. I'm so happy to wee the progress you're making gen. Keep up the good work. To be without the trach, wow, what a good feeling that must be.
I know its none of my business but has anyone checked into Social Security Disability for Gen. I know when I had my accident I qualified for it and then when I was able to work again I just notified them to stop. Even if she is getting disability from work she may still qualify for this. It would be a means of getting some income on a regular basis and its money she's put into it.
Just a suggestion, take it for what its worth. But please don't take offense as I know what it is like to go for a long period of time without being able to have money coming in.
All of you are in my prayers daily and I thank God daily for all the wonderful healing He is doing in Gen's body. But, Gen, I know how hard you're working. Don't give up. Whenever you get discouraged and down on something, remember where you have come from.
