monday evening

another week begins at kumc. gen had physical therapy in the morning, and did the sitting balance. claude said gen's head and back were "stronger and straighter than she had yet seen." she said it with a french accent, so it sounded better than when i say it. we did speech therapy in the afternoon while gen was in the cardiac chair. in this session, gen got the "th" motion and a great big "eee" motion down pat. we were so excited and happy. she counted to 10 with mouth motion and sound to go along with it. yay, gen! behind the scenes, we had a bit of trouble with the car (we are using it because of the generosity of josh's mom and we really appreciate having transportation). there was a problem with the distributor cap, and two friends of josh's (morgan and mike) came from lawrence and fixed it for us. they got to visit gen also, and it was the first time they had seen her since she was in the icu. imagine their happiness to see her like she is now...what a blessing for all of us! that's about it...

Dear Gen, Josh, and Susan,

I praise God for the victories you are winning each day. I thank Him for the people you have like Claude, who have been on this journey with you from the beginning, and who can see the amazing progress you are making. You continue to be in our prayers daily and often. I am planning a trip to KC next week, and hope to see all of you then.

Love,
Melfin

I just wanted to say that I had been feeling sorry for myself this morning. I hadn't checked on Gen's progress in a while (Arik led me here) and thought I would drop by. I don't feel sorry for myself anymore. Gen is an inspiration, for lack of a less hokey word. She may not remember me, but I am sending my love.

Gen and Susan,
I called the store today and talked to Chris, and he informed me of Ms. Susan's absence and sent me here. Gen, you are a great inspiration to all of us. Remember you are touching people's lives throughout the world as you fight and win. Thank you so much and know that you are in all our prayers. Ms. Susan, keep up your strength and know we will keep you in our prayers too.

Dear Gen,
It's been a bit since we left a message for you -- but we do read them everyday and are watching your progress. Josh's mom was at church on friday. That is our healing service, and as usual you were prayed for by name. It is so wonderful watching his healing in your life through these blogs thank you Susan and Josh!
All our love and prayers,
Jerry, Kathy and Sophie too!

As a weekend visitor, Gen's progress seems rapid to me, but I know it is the result of her hard work and must seem very slow to her. She is on the healing journey: with so much love and prayer, Josh & Susan at her side, and Gen's courage and will, she will be back.

Gen, Josh and Susan,
What great news for a Monday! I have a feeling before too long, we are going to hear a word, not just a sound. Keep up the hard work, every day you are closer to being yourself. Gen, always remember you are an amazing woman! love, Tracey
