first things first. jenny... gen says "happy birthday!"
dr. terry came by this morning. he said gen is making great progress. he seems thrilled. he asked her to wiggle her toes. her right foot moved. he asked again and she did it again. she sat in the cardiac chair after that. dr. terry ordered a smaller trach tube for gen. we think it will allow her to get more air through her throat and mouth. it will also let her swallow better. she had a good workout with the pt today. she told me that its getting easier to hold her head to the center. speech therapy came in late today. they worked with the speaking valve and with mouthing words. gen is fighting the sleeping pills so she can watch seinfeld.

Dear Susan, Gen, and Josh,
I am back in MO tonight, and 101 degrees in our state sure feels a lot hotter than the 101 degrees in CO. Don't know if the difference is that Amy has air conditioning, or that MO has humidity. I, too, have been reading through Psalms. David certainly knew the depth and the height of God's love and provision. Last night, the 5 year old grandson prayed before supper, and before I could help him with Gen's name, his 8 year old brother, Noah, filled in for me. Know that there are some very faithful little boys praying for you daily! I am thankful for and excited about the good report from Dr. Terry. My grandma stint runs through the end of July, and I hope to come see you after taking the last of the grandsons home. Thank you for the nightly postings. I read about your day, Gen, and pray for you before going to bed each night. I know that God continues to be your strength and your exceeding great reward.
Love,
Melfin
