it serves me right

the day after i write about the "routine," we have an unorganized day. gen got up in the cardiac chair this morning. speech therapy did not come as scheduled. the pt came at the usual time. gen balanced herself sitting up for three minutes today. she started to fall forward four or five times but straightened herself on her own. she told us that she was too tired to stand up. this was okay with the pt as she was tired, too (she's a triathalete who is competing every weekend). earlier this morning, gen told us that she did not want to go outside. she said it was too much work to do right after physical therapy. needless to say, we didn't go outside. the pt talked about maybe getting her in a wheelchair earlier in the day. the speech therapist came as soon as physical therapy was over. gen did all the usual exercises and then the therapist suggested singing. gen's lips mouthed many of the words to some easy children's songs (used in speech therapy because they are so familiar). she didn't mouth all the words, but the therapist was thrilled to see her "singing along" even if the movements were small. this evening gen was working at moving her legs, and she actually pressed down with her feet. we could see her legs move and feel the muscles in her ankles working. we know that God is in control, and we thank him for blessings every day. gen had more company from back home today (momo and claire) and she wanted to tell them about "the nurse with pinch," after which she had a good laugh.

Hey Josh and Gen, Came by your room today when Damon and I were at K.U. for a check up but I probably knocked "too softly". That was me calling your name down by the pharmacy Josh, but the hall was too crowded for you to see me. I just decided to write instead and let you know many people from my work said to say "Hi, and you are all in their prayers." May God continue to bless you all and Gen keep up the good work. Gen, Josh and Susan, Another day and more encouraging words! God is keeping a close watch on you Gen and knows you are strong willed and determined to get better. I'm sure it was nice to see and hear familiar voices from home with Momo and Claire. Keep up the hard work and keep singing! love, Tracey

Dear Gen and family,
I just found out tonight that you have this blog page by which I can keep up with your progress. How wonderful.
I read with great interest of your progression to restoration and recovery. How wonderful to have a place to go to get the help you are getting from such attentive personnel. What a ministry they are giving to you. I know, Gen, that you and the family are moved beyond words to express your gratitude.
I pray for you all that your fucused faith, desire and passion for God's glory in all of this will be realized, manifested and that it will be a ministry unto others in the days and years ahead.

Knowing, seeing and believing you all to be a family of "creative, intentional souls," I sense you are already entering into a wonder-filled future and that you will see the results and effect of your journey thru all of this.

Gen, you are one of God's very special children with sensitivies, sense, skills and soul-substance from the Savior-Lord and the Holy Spirit. God is going to be glorified in all of this. How wonderful to witness and experience the support in and thru the prayerful, willful desire of your family, friends and medical ministers in your Journey thru these days. I have joined the host of others in praying for you, too.

Joining with the God of Love in loving you and your blessed family, I am
Yours truly,
Bill Sutter
