gen had her swallow evaluation today. the speech therapist stuck a camera up her nose and down into her throat. her swallow is extremely good, they say. it's in better shape than they expected. gen is getting better at mouthing words. pt went well today. gen had a good stretch to her sidewhile sitting. she leaned on her elbow. when sitting back up from the lean, she helped push herself up.

Dear Susan and Joshua,
That camera up the nose and down the throat thing had to have been uncomfortable for Gen, but I praise God for a good report. I am so glad that Gen's swallow passed, and surpassed inspection! Here we are at a weekend again, so I imagine you will have several visitors these next two days. Last night was a wonderfully cool night for sleeping, and this morning the pastures are blanketed in fog. What a relief that is from the 102 degree temperatures of late. Bill and I still have grandsons with us, and we will be taking them back to Colorado later this week. Know that you are all in our prayers daily, and I look forward to seeing you early in August.
Love,
Melfin
Susan, Gen, and Joshua,
I talked to Dorothy a few days ago and was overwhelmed with the news. I found your blog through Google and was moved by all of your efforts to post current updates. Reading them all together, they show such amazing progress. I'm so impressed with Gen's strength and all of the love shown in the comments. My thoughts are with you all. Take care, Mary
Sounds as if Gen is making even better progress now! Rita and I are excited. We aren't going to make the reunion, her Mom is keeping us busy, and we just don't have the vacation time. I'm going to play in another hold'em tournament on the 12th of Aug., while Rita very happily goes shopping without me tagging along.
Better go , take care , stay strong Gen. and Josh.
Love Lee and Rita
